Does anybody have any experience using this camera in the studio? If so, what lighting equipment are you using. The manual only says to use Canon flashes or equivalent, which aren't going to cut it. I'm not that familiar with trigger voltage (250V) and don't want to fry the thing. Any responses would be greatly appreciated. What I'm looking for is a brand of lights that would work with E-TTL. Thanks

Friends,
There used to be a number of threads created / discussed every day on IV... those good ol' days... a lot of good discussions on a variety of topics, including immigration:D
But of late I am seeing fewer threads on IV and wondering what could be the reason.
1. Either a lot of folks got greened and stopped visiting IV
2. or a lot of folks lost jobs & abandoned their GC process
3. or a lot of folks got frustrated and left for their home countries
Is this just me feeling this way or...?

it is fine to have both I-485s filed and pending - generally speaking, if one gets approved, USCIS should deny the other (as a LPR you will no longer be eligible to adjust your status to lpr).

How long does FQIA on my I-485 application will take ?
Please let me know.
I created similar thread before, just lost in time.

Contributed $200 towards Advocacy.
It just cost 44 cents to file a FOIA. Just file it and think later how much time it will take.

This is a contract position to work in canada. This is normally through couple of vendors.
My employer is a small consulting company, which don't have own projects. So they pay only when I get project with other consultancies companies and bill through them.
You get work visa in canada then you need to be paid in canada..Work visa in canada has nothing to do with that of US status.
If you are getting paid in usa ( it seems like) and planning on working in canada on visitor visa its not legal. This might be the reason.
Your status in US has nothing to do with Working/Visiting/studying in Canada.
If you have used AP you "Probably" not on H1 any more.. there are some contradicting statements of IV members on this before. But I have seen USCIS sending a notice for one of my friend where in which he was advised to use AP ( as he is considered being on AOS eventhough he has H1) in future.

My LC (non-RIR) is stuck in BPC since Feb'05 which is also my PD. After lot of convincing up to my VP level they finally at least agreed to have a healthy discussion with lawyer to see the pros and cons of converting the application to PERM while retaining PD.
My understanding is, there is no conversion. The old application from BPC has to be with drawn and re-filed under PERM. I meet other requirements to keep the PD like same job title etc..
Question is, H1 expires in Feb'07 and will apply for extension in Aug'06. Should I wait till Aug to have H1 extended using premium processing and then convert to PERM. Is there a risk of re-filing under PERM prior to H1 extension. PERM takes few months for the company to prepare, can they kick start the process now without withdrawing the LC?
thank you.

Not sure about requesting without A# , may be it can be done.

Our AP saga got its final miracle today. (at least I think its the final one) Though my spouses and daughter's AP were finally got approved yesterday, the miracle is that TSC has decided to expedite and overnight them, based on a fax from my father-in-laws doctor.
The very nice lady IO at SF INS office this morning asked for our telephone numbers, and then followed up and called us on our cell phone to confirm that TSC is expediting the APS..and overnight-ing them!
Prior to this last miracle the journey was choppy.
We are to leave for India on Dec 26th... ..the APs were e-filed on July 12 to give TSC enough time.
Because nothing seemed to be happening I faxed TSC director (no use), another fax at TSC (not much use), made friends with a TSC rep...(great) got in touch with my Congressman George MIller's office..(fantastic), leading to the approval yesterday and then today comes the icing on the cake the overnight-ing.
After a season of dryness, it doesn't just rain, it pours!

Called both the senators. Specter's office said that the senator won't be proposing any amendments.
Basically, standard reply from both, they realize that there are holes and they will keep our feedback in mind.

My husband's employer filed for green card under EB-1 (OR). I-140 got approved, I-485 is pending. I already did my fingerprinting. My husband's is scheduled for next week. We did not get EAD or AP yet.
Meanwhile I need to travel to Europe on business. I have a valid H-1 to re-enter US. Would my AP get approved before I return to US? If so, can I still enter with my valid H-1? My husband is planning to delay his biometrics until I get back. Are there any problems with this plan? Please advise

We are very busy these days trying to beat the H1B (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html) rush. While we fell that visas will not run out on April 1, 2010, clients are anxious to get their cases out the door. We promise to deliver.
Here are some tips that may help our last minute filers. The issue today is a degree that has not yet been awarded. In the past, the USCIS has approved H-1B petitions (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html)for aliens seeking one of the 20,000 H-1B visas available to aliens who have earned masters or higher degrees from U.S. institutions of higher education, where the alien has completed all requirements for the degree, and hence, has earned the degree, but the degree has not been conferred.
There is no reason to believe that USCIS will not continue that practice, so long as there is evidence that the alien has completed all requirements from an official at the educational institution qualified to provide that information. In the past, satisfactory evidence often was in the form of a letter from an official such as a Dean, Registrar, or department head, stating that all requirements have been satisfied and that the alien is simply waiting for the ceremonial conferral of the degree.
Be wary of letters prepared by unauthorized employees at the school stating that the student has completed all requirements toward a masters degree, when in fact there are still examinations or papers to complete. USCIS is likely to question a letter that comes from a lower-level employee of the university. Be mindful also that use of such documentation when the student has not completed the program may be considered fraud. Also, use of such a document may result in the loss of the clients chance at a slot in the U.S. masters graduate quota since the petition likely would be denied on the basis of ineligibility at the time of filing.
More tips in later posts, good luck filing the H1's tomorrow.

1. The title noted on the labor form was "Associate". On the job description letter, is it ok if the title is noted as "Financial Associate Analyst". Plus my labor was approved as IS Manager. Would the "financial" title cause a problem?
2. My lawyer put a very generic sentence as my job description. Does my job experience letter have to have the exact same generic sentence in it? and is it ok if the letter has more duties on it other than the one mentioned on the labor form (i did different stuff at that job, finance, IT, sales etc)
3. My lawyer put the required degree on the labor form as "Computer Science". However; I have a MIS degree. Is that going to be a problem when applying for i140?
It is surprizing that generic description of a job got through Labor without any questions. There is no clear answer to your questions. General principle is that jobs description should be more or less same as in Labor application. If your Labor was approved as IS Manager with your title to be an Associate, your job is expected to be of management type. Analyst job seems to be a technical job. Clear these issues before your employer filing for your 140 proceeds.

Hi immigration Gurus,
I am in kind of situation where I need the guidance from the experts and knowledgeable . I was working for a company A(IT Product development company) who filed my GC around FEB 2007 in EB2, Aug 2007 filed my I140 and I485 concurrently, In Oct 2008, I left the A Company and moved to Company B on H1B,the company B immigration lawyers did not file AC21, as there reason was we don't want to get unnecessary attention on the GC process and told if any any RFE we will look at it, right now I got a good offer with Company C and have to move for a better medical insurance. Looking at the GC Labour petition, it is given as a product manager with the Company A and the OES code is pointing to some manufacturing production manager as there is no such as product manager in the computer OES code. Right now the company C I am moving is a Technical Lead position, so how to go about or is there any advice for this, if I am moving on the EAD and how to file the AC21 so that I don't get any RFE.
Your guidance is greatly apprecaite.
Thanks,
Jumanji

If the employer agrees not to revoke the 140, Can I change the employer after getting EAD. 485 application is pending but less than 180 days.
My project is getting over, and it seems hard to find a h1b job.
pls advice
When did you file for I-485? Your profile says priority date is Dec-07 for EB2/ India. That date was never current.

but we sent out the application package on June 28 (Friday) and the USCIS received our package on July 1st (Based on the Fedex tracking record). There is no way that my employer can refer to the new prevailing wage databse, which is released on July 1st.
Save the FedEx receipts etc, they might be useful in case of RFE.
