Brammo announced it will launch the production version of its much-anticipated Empulse electric motorcycle in May, nearly two years after the prototype was first unveiled.
The production version of the 2012 Brammo Empulse will be unveiled May 8 in Los Angeles, with a live webcast for all pre-order customers.
When it was first announced, the naked streetfighter-styled Empulse was described as a “game changer”, promising 100 mph performance and up to a 100-mile range.
Official specifications will be released later this month but we already know the Empulse will be water-cooled electric motor and a six-speed transmission. The Empulse will be powered by Brammo’s BPM-15/90 battery which consists of an array of 36 lithium-ion cells. According to Brammo, the BPM can increase or decrease its temperature to maintain peak performance levels.
Why the long delay? Brammo likely wanted to put in enough development time, including experience from its TTXGP North American Championship run.
Check back here on April 18 when full specifications are expected to be released.
